With her 3rd Blue Note album Synonym, Meshell Ndegeocello presents a remarkable album of duets on classic songs that are known, loved, and diverse in tone, “genre”, intent, and BPM. 

This is an album about joy, love, selfhood, individual representation and universal experience that explores expressions of desire, care, heartbreak, friendship, disappointment, and love in all the forms. 

All the songs feature two singers who identify as the same gender, wherever that might be on the continuum, and are musically matched for contrast or compliment including Cynthia Erivo, Cat Power, Robert Glasper, Chaka Khan, Madison Cunningham, Laura Lee (Khruangbin), Emily King, Lizz Wright, Lianne La Havas, Moses Sumney, Brandi Carlile, ANOHNI, WILLOW, Bill Callahan, Chris Thile, and more.
